Abstract
Optical frequency-division multiplex (OFDM) techniques in transparent networks offer a maximum of flexibility for future optical broadband communications.1 Figure 1 shows a scheme of a transparent switching node. The input fibers are guiding a frequency multiplex of modulated optical carriers, which are routed all-optically with respect to space and frequency2 to the output fibers.
