Abstract

Two of the most important device requirements in angle modulated coherent optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensors are narrow laser linewidth and uniform frequency modulation (FM) response. We report a compact device that exhibits a simultaneously narrow nominal linewidth of <200 kHz and uniform red shifted FM response from dc to ≥200 MHz.
