Double-passing electroabsorption modulator for high-speed modulation

Abstract

We propose and demonstrate an electroabsorption (EA) modulator that uses an anti-reflective facet and a highly reflective facet to obtain double pass. This configuration helps overcome trade-off between expanding modulation bandwidth and increasing extinction efficiency.
