Abstract

The recent explosive growth of data traffic has stimulated the demand for high-capacity information networks. In order to further upgrade the overall capacity of TDM/WDM-based transmission networks we must increase the capacity per WDM channel. A high-speed optical modulator is the key to achieving a high bit rate per channel with a bandwidth of 40 GHz or higher.
