Abstract

We have been developed a magneto-optical (MO) disk drive system with over 6 GByte capacity in a 120mm-diameter single-side disk.[1] It utilizes a magnetically induced super-resolution (MSR) medium on a 0.6 mm-thickness substrate and land/groove (L/G) recording with an effective track pitch of 0.6 um. In this report, we will describe recording and readout margin balance between lands and grooves in the MSR disk system.
