Abstract

Magneto-optical (M-O) disk with an amorphous magnetic film of rare earth-transition metal (RE-TM) alloy has an advantage of easy recording and erasing with a low power laser such as a semiconductor laser diode. The M-O disk memory is useful for reversible optical mass memory systems. Recently, many studies of the M-O disk have been carried out in both fields of media and systems from the practical point of view.(1,2,3,4)
