Non-Symmetrical Solitons in a Femtosecond Dye Laser

Abstract

We report here the first experimental observation of non-symmetrical N=2 solitons. These pulses are produced by a passively mode-locked and dispersion controlled dye laser. As we have previously shown [1] this type of laser can produce high-order soliton like pulses. These pulses are characterized by a modulated pulse train envelope with the N-l characteristic frequencies of a N-soliton.
