Abstract

Recently, exact solutions have been presented for the polarization evolution in an isotropic nonlinear medium with an externally induced birefringence [1-2], and the occurrence of instabilities and bifurcations has been predicted[2]. Otsuka and Yumoto[3] have also predicted self-induced instabilities in nonlinear anisotropic crystals of cubic symmetry, but no analytical solution was provided.
