Abstract

Optical bistable devices and logic gates have shown intriguing promise for optical computing of the future. Nonlinear semiconductor etalon devices have become increasingly popular for research on room-temperature switching at low powers with rapid response times. GaAs has displayed interesting advantages over other materials by operating at room temperature with a few milliwatts of power. In this presentation, the speed of a GaAs optical device is measured using femtosecond light pulses.1
