Semiconductor lasers with weak optical feedback: spectral properties and frequency dependent losses

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We calculate the field power spectrum of a Semiconductor Laser in a finite time window in presence of weak feedback and compare it with numerical simulations. The asymmetry of the side peaks, their frequency shift and the linewidth reduction are characterized. We consider the limit of very weak feedback, in which only side peaks associated with relaxation oscillations modified by the feedback appear in the spectrum.
