The biophysical basis of laser angioplasty

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This lecture will discuss the patho-physiology of the arterial wall and the selection of ablation parameters, including: wavelength, pulse duration, and power density, which are required to deal with arterial obstruction. The system constraints, such as arterial tortuousity, calcifications, and lesion eccentricity will be addressed as well as results from current clinical trials.
