Simultaneous measurement of laser scintillation and atmospheric turbulence structure parameter and inner scale

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Intensity scintillation of a diverged laser beam was measured at NOAA's Table Mountain Field Site near Boulder, Colorado, where turbulence homogeneity is excellent. The horizontal propagation path was 1200 m. Scintillation strength ranged from weak to very strong. Refractive-index structure parameter and inner scale were measured simultaneously. Measured values of intensity variance will be shown and compared with those from computer simulations or approximate and numerical solutions of the fourth moment equation.
