All optical switch using elliptically birefringent single-mode fiber

Abstract

We study the performance of a fiber all-optical switch. The switch configuration is in the form of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer similar to that proposed by Lattes et al.1 The operation of the switch is based on both the nonlinear and birefringent properties of the fiber.
