Object support reconstruction and phase retrieval

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The reconstruction of an object from the modulus of its Fourier transform—the phase retrieval problem—occurs in several important uses such as astronomy and wavefront sensing. Reconstruction is possible only if sufficiently powerful object-domain constraints are available. Non-negativity and support constraints (knowledge that the object is zero outside some region of support) are the two most commonly encountered constraints. We have devised new methods for determining object support constraints from the support of the autocorrelation (which can be computed from the Fourier modulus).
