Abstract

Holography is an effective medium for teaching optical principles and techniques. However, existing texts do not describe procedures that permit beginning students to easily predict image locations for transmission holograms. One simple and useful method for tracing rays through holograms is due to Abramson.1 However, Abramson’s procedure is limited since only two special rays are traced.
