Picosecond pulse amplification over a bandwidth of 80 nm in a 23 cm length of Bi2O3-based Erbium-doped fiber

Abstract

One-picosecond pulses are amplified without distortion in a 22.7-cm Bi2O3-based EDFA. Gains of 12 dB and higher are demonstrated over a bandwidth of 80 nm (1520 – 1600 nm).
