Abstract

We study a laser diode (cavity length Ld, facet reflectivities Rd) with a feedback provided by an empty external Fabry-Perot resonator (length Lr, mirror reflectivities Rr) at a distance L0 from the laser diode. The characteristic lengths Ld, Lr and L0 are associated with the roundtrip times τd, τr and τ0, respectively. The external resonator is slightly tilted offaxis to avoid direct back-reflection and introduces an infinite number of delay terms into the evolution equation for the electric field.
