Abstract
This paper is devoted to the investigation of the dynamics in a laser with a nonlinear element whose loss depends on the laser intensity at a preceding instance of time determined by the length of the additional feedback loop. The phenomenon of multistability and the structure of the set of solutions are analytically described. The regions of the existence and the initial conditions at which their realization is possible have been determined. The possibility of the system’s complicated behaviour is shown and the sequence of bifurcations leading to chaos has been found.
