Coherent Acoustic Phonon Generation in Exciton Self-Trapping

Abstract

The dynamics of exciton self-trapping in quasi-one-dimensional systems are studied using femtosecond impulsive excitation techniques. Low temperature measurements reveal the generation of a coherent acoustic wave associated with the formation of the localized lattice deformation.
