Abstract

The possibility of a guided-layer recording system is confirmed with recording and readout test using the same two laser diodes with the wavelength of 405nm for focusing and guiding. Recordable guided media is fabricated with a recording layer and a guide layer having 320 nm-wide track pitch and 15 um-thick space layer. Recording capacity of 25 GB could be recorded on a flat recording layer using a track error signal from the guide layer.
