Abstract
Successful frequency control of an AlGaAs diode laser using resonant phase-conjugate reflection was reported by Cyr et al.[1] This experiment shows the possibility of locking the laser through external optical feedback by the phase-conjugate reflection. The theory of phase-conjugate feedback in a diode laser by Agrawal and Klaus[2] is applicable to the case of a self-pumped mirror only. To be able to investigate locking to an external reference frequency, we have formulated the problem for the case of phase-conjugate reflection by nearly-degenerate four-wave mixing with external pumping.
