Laser Spectroscopy of Highly Excited Mesoscopic Crystals

Abstract

Elementary excitations of crystals or molecular aggregates can propagate from atoms to atoms or from molecules to molecules through dipolar interactions. These excitations are accompanied with the static dipolemoments due to the charge transfer in the excited level in some organic crystals, e. g., anthracene-PMDA. Optical responses of such materials are expected to show characteristic features under higly excited circumstances. Especially, when the system size is small enough, the emission lines are well separated so that we can study the electronic structures of highly excited states and the dynamics among them in detail from the time-resolved emission spectrum.
