Abstract

Frequency doubling of laser light via second-harmonic generation (SHG) in waveguiding structures has been a topic of intense research efforts in recent years. SHG in the Cerenkov-radiation scheme (Cerenkov-type SGH)[1] is highly promising because the phase-matching constraint is greatly relaxed in this configuration. In this paper we present a simple analytic expression for the second-harmonic power in Cerenkov-type SHG and discuss the guidelines for efficient frequency conversion.
