Abstract
Second-harmonic generation (SHG) in optical waveguides is very attractive due to the strong beam confinement over a long interaction length enabling to achieve high conversion efficiencies even on the laser diode power level. We now report for the first time phase- matched second-harmonic generation in nonlinear optically active Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film waveguides both by mode conversion and by use of the Cerenkov-type configuration. With the first technique phase-matched frequency-doubling was observed in LB films of 2-docosylamino-5-nitropyridine (DCANP)[1] by conversion of a fundamental TEo - mode into a second-harmonic TE1 - mode.
