Abstract

Acoustically tunable wavelength switches/filters for new wavelength routing and switched wavelength multiplexing-demultiplexing systems have recently been demonstrated.1-3 We use a simple polarization-independent structure with two cascaded strictly passive polarization splitters formed by waveguide crossings.4 When we choose an intersection angle α of 1.3°, a polarization cross talk of-30 dB is achieved.
