Protection against photonic imperfections

Abstract

We demonstrate that subwavelength grating waveguide can provide protection against imperfections that are longer than a wavelength. We measure 3x lower loss due to a ~2.1 μm long imperfection in a subwavelength grating waveguide as compared to a regular continuous waveguide.
