Abstract
The NASA next-generation airborne sunphotometer (5STAR) is subject to science requirements and practical constraints in the optical, mechanical, electronic, robotic, thermal and aeronautic domains. This presentation summarizes the engineering challenges, tradeoffs, and advances in the 5STAR design.
