Abstract

It has been shown in several papers, e.g. [1,2], that transverse pattern formation in nonlinear optical systems (NLO) with planar resonators can be described through a single equation governing the spacetime evolution of one system's variable, the so called order parameter equation (OPE). On deriving those OPE’s one takes advantage of the existence of slow time and space scales, on which the long-term dynamics of the system takes place, given by the close-to-threshold and small detuning conditions, respectively.
