60-Mode Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier with Low Differential Modal Gain

Abstract

We numerically simulate a telecom fiber amplifier with a recently demonstrated fiber that transmits 60 uncoupled modes. We predict differential modal gains as low as 0.5 dB with a simple pump profile comprising only two modes.
