Power Scaling of InGaN-Blue-LD pumped Pr3+:YLF Laser and Passive Q-switching

Abstract

Praseodymium ion (Pr3+) has many transitions in the visible wavelength ranging from 480 to 720 nm. With a Pr3+ -doped fluoride laser medium, LD pumped solid-state lasers that directly oscillate at red, orange, and green transitions have been realized at room temperature. So far, the highest cw output laser powers of 2.9, 1.8 and 2.8 W were reported at 640, 607 and 523 nm, respectively, from a Pr3+:YLF (LiYF4) laser pumped by an 2-OPSL (optically pumped semiconductor laser) [1].
