Abstract

Vortices have experimented a raising interest in the recent years because of their azimutal evolution, the special properties concerning filamentation and their potential applications. In this work we report the generation of high power vortices by using volume phase holographic elements. In this conditions, effects such as spinning vortex breakup is observed in air, as well as filamentation in gases (e.g. N2, Ar) at near atmospheric pressure.
