Novel lasers with periodically poled crystals

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Several ferroelectric crystals can nowadays be periodically poled to high quality. Some of these are preferred for visible applications where high resistance to optical damage is essential. Periodically poled KTP (PPKTP) has been the most frequently used material as it for this reason allows the crystal to be operated at room temperature. Lasers with several Watts of visible radiation has been constructed in pulsed mode while the CW lasers are approaching 1 Watt in output power.
