Abstract

We realized a diode-pumped all-fiber additive pulse mode-locked fs-laser system with an Er3+-doped silica fiber as gain medium. The special dispersion management in the cavity with alternating fiber dispersion results in a periodic stretching and recompression of the circulating pulse and enables higher pulse energies [1]. The bandwidth of 100 nm and the pulse duration of 70 fs are significant improvements to nowadays commercially available fiber laser systems. Experiments showed that stimulated Raman scattering in the cavity gives a significant contribution to the broad bandwidth. This laser was self-starting and showed good long term stability and reliability over several thousand hours. This system showed 25 mW output power and a repetition rate of 59 MHz.
