Abstract

Laser materials with broad emission band have been intensively investigated for application in diode-pumped ultrashort pulse lasers. In this work we use an oxide crystal with disordered structure Nd3+ Li3Ba2Gd3(MoO4)8 (Nd3+ LBGM) which has shown efficient cw and Q-switch lasing [1]. The Nd3+ LBGM laser crystal has a broad emission band (f w h m ~12nm) with two pronounced maxima near 1,061 μm and 1,066 μm. Broad absorption spectrum (max at 806,5 nm) [1] and relatively high Nd3+ ion concentration (~4% at) in the used crystal give us a possibility of using low power laser diodes for pumping.
