Abstract

Periodic two- and three-dimensional photonic structures have attracted considerable attention recently due to the prospects of forming photonic bandgap structures useful for controlling photon modes and light-matter interaction. Such periodic structures are also of interest because of the possibility of producing “photonic lattice” structures displaying interesting and useful coherent optical coupling phenomena. Here, we report the investigation of the effect of strain on photonic lattices made using coherently coupled two-dimensional arrays of microcavities.
