Abstract
Passive mode locking (ML) of laser diodes (LDs) at very high frequencies is an attractive subject both for scientific reasons, as it may help understand the mechanisms responsible for mode locking in LDs and limits of their performance, and for possible applications such as generating clock sequences for future TBit communications and developing compact local oscillators for THz frequency conversion.
