Abstract

Experimental observation of one dimensional (1D) and two dimensional (2D) bright and dark spatial soliton propagation has been reported in photorefractive media [1,2]. The experiments were performed under externally applied dc field, which clearly sets some particular direction in the plane perpendicular to the axis of soliton propagation. In this paper we present experimental results on the interferometric analysis of the photoinduced phase changes produced by a 1D dark stripe and a 2D dark circular spot intensity distributions These kind ot intensity distributions are typical for dark spatial soliton generation.
