Abstract
This study is an extension of the British OCPM (Optically Connected Parallel Machines) collaborative project funded through the LINK Optoelectronic Systems Programme [1]. In a recent paper, we described the particularities of our project with respect to the OCPM project [2]: the wavelength is the usual telecommunication one (λ=1.55µm), the input and output fibers are single-mode (in order to provide a realistic telecommunication demonstrator). The routing is performed by the key-component, a Silicon Backplane Spatial Light Modulator (SBSLM) [3]. This SBSLM is a CMOS 1µm Integrated Circuit (IC) with Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal (FLC) SCE13 (Merck) on the top. The system forms a 8×8 crossbar.
