Abstract

As a compact solid-state source for coherent blue and green light, laser diode-based second harmonic generation (SHG) in waveguide devices is very promising for the use in certain low-power applications such as optical storage and laser printing. Efficient blue light generation has been demonstrated in quasi-phase-matched waveguides in LiNbO3,1 LiTaO2,2 KTP,3 and in phase-matched and Cerenkov-type waveguides in KNbO3.4,5
