Abstract

Frequency doubling of near infrared diode lasers in channel waveguides offers the potential of robust, compact and reliable blue laser sources. Potassium niobate (KNbO3) is one of the most promising materials for blue and green light second-harmonic generation (SHG) thanks to its high nonlinear-optical susceptibilities and favourable phase-matching properties [1].
