Abstract

Mode instability of fiber amplifiers employing double-side spiral coiling configurations has been analyzed numerically for the first time, which reveals that, compared with those employing traditional spiral coiling configurations, fiber amplifiers with doubleside spiral coiling configurations have much higher mode instability threshold.
