Abstract

In this paper, we investigated pretilt angle controllability of nematic liquid crystal on the substrate treated by ion beam. The pretilt angles were generated by remaining portion of vertical functional molecules in the material. The angle range from 2° to 89° was obtained by this method. We also applied this to no bend-bias-voltage OCB mode.
