Abstract
Optical compensation films play an important role in enhancing the viewing angle characteristics for LCDs. This paper reviews optical compensation films, focusing mainly on the WV films. The basic idea of the WV film is to optically compensate the optical anisotropy of the black-state liquid-crystal layer to minimize off-axis light leakage.
