Abstract

As the bit rates of high-speed transmission systems increase, the dynamic properties of laser diodes like the resonance frequency and damping factor are becoming more important. A technique is described for readily extracting values of the rate equation parameters using measurements of the light-current and small-signal modulation characteristics for a bias current well above the threshold current.
