Abstract
Thulium-doped multi-component glass in the composition of 20ZrF4-30ZnF2-25AlF3-10BaF2-14YF3-1TmF3 (mol%) has been prepared and its blue up-conversion emissions are reported. A quantum efficiency of 58% was obtained for a blue up-conversion at 452nm. The energy levels and blue up-conversion mechanisms of this glass have been explained.
