A Novel Method to Monitor OSNR Using a Mach-Zehnder Interferometer*

Abstract

We introduce a novel technique to monitor OSNR using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The error is less than 0.5dB for OSNR between 10dB-40dB in the best case. The key advantage of this method is its low cost.
