Abstract

An Aurora-2 Thermomicroscopes Near-field Scanning Optical Microscope (NSOM) has been utilized to examine the detailed structure of the optical emission pattern of a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL). Particular attention is given to changes in the transverse mode structure in relation to the recent observation of pure-frequency bistability in such devices [1].
