Abstract
Wavelength selective switches/filters1,2 are important for wavelength multiplexed transmission/switching systems. The spatial separation of selected and unselected signals allow these filters to work not only as tunable wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexers, but also as a new kind of switching device. We call this switching device a wavelength selective router. Here, we report on the first demonstration of the wavelength selective routing using the grating switch integrated with a directional coupler (GRACE) structure.
