Abstract
The sliding-frequency laser (SFL)1,2 is a promising short-pulse optical fibre source, with potential applications in soliton communication systems. Recent experimental results2,3 have demonstrated good agreement with theory based on perturbation analysis, together with several desirable properties of the laser, including a low threshold and true selfstarting operation, tunability, and suppression of noise and linear modes.
