Abstract

A COIL of 1.315 µm wavelength is confirmed to be transmitted through conventional silica fiber with low absorption as same as YAG laser.1,2 COIL is suitable for getting high power because of the chemical reaction and for getting high beam quality3 because of the low cavity pressure. High power and high beam quality are good for the cutting process of thick steel or stainless steel plates such as ones used for heavy industries.
